HOW DOES IT WORK?

Sign up for tickets between now and February 16, 2018 (no later then 10:00 am Mountain Standard Time).  By 10:30, you will receive an email stating the parameters of the short film you will be producing, which is:  1) a theme, 2) a prop and 3) a line of dialogue.  Then, you will be given 24 hours to write, produce and edit your short film.  By 10:30 am the next day (Feb 17) you will email your finished film file (or a link to a download) to [email protected].

 Films will be judged according to the best use of the theme, prop and line of dialogue.

DATES TO REMEMBER

The day to make the 24 Hour film is February 16, 2018 (starting at 10:30 am Mountain) ending February 17 at 10:30 am.

The actual date of the LDS Film Festival is February 26-March 3. 

The showing of all 24 Hour entries is March 1 at 7:00 pm.

The award show is March 3 at 7:00 pm. 

UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD

Once your film is finished, upload to a general file transfer website (such as WeTransfer.com).  Most are free.  

TIME LENGTH

Each film will have a time limit that will be decided day of the competition.  (Usually between 3 to 5 minutes.)  Once the time length is decided, the participants will be notified as part of the "parameters" email sent out at 10:30.  There is no minimum time length. If a film goes over the time limit announced, it will be disqualified (but will still be shown the night of the event).

TEAM LIMIT

Each Team is made up of no more then 5 people (behind the camera and in front).  If the film takes place in public, bystanders will not count as part of the 5 people.  If more then 5 people participate, the film will be disqualified (but will still be shown the night of the event).

PARAMETERS

Each paid and signed in participant will be emailed:

1) a theme (such as "compassion" or "humility"),

2) a prop (such as paper clip or lamp or mirror - festival will not supply the prop)

3) and a line of dialogue (such as "let me be your..." or "hey, watch out for...").

4) You will be given a specific time length (usually 3 to 5 minutes).

5) Maximum of 5 Team Players in front and behind the camera.

ORIGNAL CONTENT

Participant is responsible for the rights of music, images and people used in the film.  No using copyrighted material without permission.

 MATURE CONTENT

The festival will disqualify any films that contain offensive language, sex or violence.

TURNING IN THE FILM ON TIME

If the participant/team has not turned in their film (or email link to transfer the file) by February 17 at 10:30 Mountain Standard Time, it will be disqualified (but will still be shown at the night of the event). 

REFUNDS

If any film is disqualified for any reason, no refund will be issued.  Once a team had signed up, they are responsible to follow through with the production.

AWARDS

There are cash and award prizes, including trophies for the best entry by choice of the audience and the festival.  The cash payout is dependent upon the amount of entries.
